Last week, for the second year in a row, Outward hosted a free evening soccer camp at Richmond City Park, adjacent to Richmond Elementary. This year was another big success!
You may be wondering - why soccer? And why offer a sports camp in a neighborhood that is nowhere near our church building? The answers to these questions go right to the heart of the vision we have for our city. We have never sought to be a church where we simply exist for people to come to us. From the beginning, our intent has been to be truly outward-focused as we look for ways to serve our community. We believe the good news of Jesus compels us to live in ways that make our city a better place to live. So, one of the ways we have felt called to live this out is by providing a high-quality summer sports camp experience, free of charge, on location at Richmond Elementary.

This year we had over 50 students participate! Each night kids were led in team drills and had the opportunity to scrimmage. In addition, a portion of each night was spent learning fun songs and hearing stories from the Bible. On Friday night the entire camp had fun at a closing carnival with a bounce house, dunk tank, and giant slip 'n slide!
One of the highlights of Soccer Camp was seeing the huge number of volunteers who made this camp possible! Each night we had between 30 and 40 volunteers coaching and helping with set up/tear down, security, check in, music, storytelling, and snacks.
Thanks to ALL involved in making Soccer Camp 2017 a great experience!
Love Jesus. Live outward.
